Changing Seasons, Changing Needs: How EvenMor Prepares for Winter

As the temperatures begin to drop and the seasons change here in the North Country, our work at EvenMor Property Services begins to change, too.

Fall is a time of preparation. While many are enjoying the changing leaves and cooler temperatures, our team is already looking ahead to the challenges that winter will bring.

From preparing for snow removal and salting to adjusting our cleaning routines inside the buildings we service, there's a lot that goes into making sure our properties are ready for the months ahead.

Preparing for What Winter Brings

Anyone who has experienced a North Country winter knows just how unpredictable the weather can be.

One day, we're enjoying a beautiful fall afternoon. The next, we're waking up to snow-covered parking lots and icy walkways.

At EvenMor, preparing for winter means getting ready for the increased demands that come with snow and ice. Salting becomes an important part of maintaining property entrances to help keep exterior surfaces safer for employees, customers, and visitors.

But our winter preparations don't stop at the front door.

What Comes Inside Matters, Too

With snow and ice comes something every commercial property knows all too well: road salt.

Throughout the winter months, salt, sand, moisture, and other debris are continuously tracked into buildings on shoes and boots.

While these materials play an important role in managing slippery outdoor conditions, they can create additional challenges indoors.

Salt residue can leave behind unsightly white stains on carpets and flooring. Moisture and debris can build up around entryways, and without proper attention, that buildup can contribute to premature wear on flooring surfaces.

It's a seasonal challenge that requires more than just our usual cleaning routines.

Adjusting Our Cleaning Routines for the Season

One of the most important parts of preparing for winter at EvenMor is recognizing that the needs of each building change with the seasons.

During the warmer months, a building may require a certain amount of time and attention to maintain its appearance. But once winter arrives, those same spaces can require additional care. We begin to find ourselves bringing in additional mop buckets into facilities to accomodate for the demand. Stronger cleaning chemicals are also added to the line-up, to help breakdown the harsh debris that is tracked onto your floors. Before we know it, winter has re-shaped our nightly to-do list.

Our team begins considering the extra time that may be needed at each property to address:

  • Increased salt and sand tracked into entryways and hallways

  • Salt stains and residue on carpets and hard flooring

  • Additional mopping and floor care

  • Moisture buildup in high-traffic areas

  • More frequent attention to entrances and common spaces

These seasonal adjustments help us stay ahead of winter's mess rather than waiting for it to become a larger problem.

Every building is different, and understanding those differences allows us to better prepare our teams and maintain the level of service our clients expect.

Protecting Your Floors Through the Winter

Commercial flooring is an investment, and winter can be particularly tough on it.

When salt residue and abrasive debris are left on flooring surfaces, they can gradually contribute to wear and damage. Carpets can become stained, and hard floors may lose their appearance as winter buildup accumulates.

That's why consistent maintenance is so important.

By giving extra attention to entryways, high-traffic areas, and flooring throughout the winter months, we can help reduce buildup, address salt stains, and protect the appearance and longevity of these surfaces.

It's not always about making a dramatic transformation. Sometimes, it's the additional attention given each day that makes the biggest difference.

A Little Winter Cleaning Tip! ❄️

Did you know that diluted white vinegar can sometimes help remove those stubborn white salt stains left behind on carpets during the winter months?

A mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water can help loosen certain salt residues, making them easier to blot away. In fact, this is a technique we sometimes use here at EvenMor when tackling those pesky winter salt stains!

Of course, not every carpet or stain is the same, so it's important to test a small, hidden area first and make sure the solution is appropriate for the carpet.

When winter weather brings in more than just a few salt stains, that's where professional carpet cleaning comes in!

A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way

At EvenMor, we believe that providing quality property services means anticipating the needs of the properties we care for.

As we transition from fall into winter, our focus shifts alongside the changing weather. Whether it's preparing for the first snowfall, managing icy conditions, or making sure our cleaning teams have the time and resources needed to address winter's mess, every detail matters.

Because when the seasons change, so do the needs of your property.

And no matter what the North Country weather brings, you deserve EvenMor.
